MASNA Ventures today announced the launch of MASNA Ventures Fund I, a SAR 375 million (approximately $100 million) venture capital fund and the first of its kind focused on the Kingdom’s defense sector, timed to coincide with the opening day of the World Defense Show in Riyadh.
MASNA Ventures’ pioneering defense sector venture capital fund in Saudi Arabia is designed to capture a transformational moment in the Kingdom’s growing defense sector, leveraging venture capital investment to catalyze localized manufacturing of advanced US and allied defense technologies in Saudi Arabia.
MASNA Ventures will primarily target newly established Saudi companies created by private sector first-mover SR2 Defense Systems that harness proven, trusted systems and technologies from the United States and allied nations to manufacture locally in Saudi Arabia, enabling these in-demand systems to move faster from deployment to scale in the Kingdom. MASNA will also target other investment opportunities within the defense ecosystem as they emerge.
MASNA Ventures is co-founded and led by its general partners Lucien Zeigler and Nehal Farooqui, who collectively bring cross-border venture capital experience spanning Saudi, European, and U.S. markets, defense, and manufacturing. Together, the GP team will partner closely with Saudi defense industry stakeholders and capability partners to provide critical investment for proven, production-ready systems to be manufactured locally in Saudi Arabia.
Defense innovation is happening faster than ever before. Innovation creates opportunity, but manufacturing creates advantage. MASNA Ventures exists to translate technological edge into defense superiority by backing world-leading, trusted U.S. and allied technologies and scaling their manufacture in Saudi Arabia—building the Kingdom’s capacity to produce, adapt, and deploy at speed.

Saudi Arabia’s Defense Opportunity
“Saudi Arabia today represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in a period of global disruption in defense, enabled by the leadership and vision of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman,” Zeigler added. “SR2 Defense Systems, the first-mover U.S.–Saudi defense platform purpose-built for localization, recognized this opportunity early and moved decisively—establishing itself as the only private-sector vehicle bringing proven, world-class defense technologies into Saudi manufacturing at scale. MASNA Ventures completes that value chain by providing the private-sector capital required to accelerate these platforms into enduring Saudi manufacturing and deployable capability.”
With momentum and elevation in the U.S.-Saudi bilateral relationship and a surge in U.S.-Saudi defense cooperation following the successful visit of HRH The Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to the United States of America in November, MASNA Ventures is aligned to support and boost Saudi Arabia’s localization goals in the defense sector to help the Kingdom reach its Vision 2030 mandates to increase localized defense production to 50% by 2030. MASNA’s impact on the local ecosystem will be immediate and compounding in results, with the general partners estimating a minimum 5x economic multiplier in Saudi Arabia for each riyal invested.
The 375 million riyal ($100 million) fund also anticipates emerging opportunities across adjacent defense and industrial categories, including supply chain, procurement and logistics, defense and aerospace MRO/services, opportunities in AI, and broader manufacturing equity investment positions in the ecosystem.
We are excited to be a part of this pivotal moment in Saudi history, to cement the US-Allied/Saudi relationship and to be the bridge capital enabling the last mile local production of these carefully identified, proven defense systems.
